Dadasaheb Phalke - The Father of Indian Cinema

Dhundiraj Govind Phalke is the full name of Dadasaheb Phalke. Dadasaheb Phalke is also known as the Father of Indian Cinema. He is very popular person in Indian Bollywood History. Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the most important and prestigious award of Indian cinema. This award is given for lifetime contribution  in Indian cinema. It is great honor to Dadasaheb Phalke that this award's name has been given with Dadasaheb Phalke's name.

Dadasaheb Phalke known as the father of Indian Cinema. He made first Indian Film Raja Harishc:handra in 1913. It was a silent film. He made 95 films and 26 short films throughout his 19 years career. He contribution will be always remembered in Indian Cinema. We lost this great person on 16 February, 1994. He had got nine children(7 Sons and 2 daughters).

Birth & Education:-

Dadasaheb Phalke was born on 30 April, 1970 at Trimbakeshwar near Nasik in the Maharashtra (India). His father was a Sanskrit scholar there. 
He studied at  the Sir J.J. School Of Art, Mumbai and Kala Bhawan Baroda. He was interested in Theater, Magic, Photography and Painting. During his education period he developed his skills needed for a successful film producer.

Career:-

Dadasaheb Phalke did many work in his lile. He started his career as a photographer. Then after he met with a magician. He also worked as a draftsman in Archeological survry of India. He did also the work of printing. He opened his own printing press. He did also some painting work with Raja Ravi Verma. After that, all these he started production work in Indian Cinema. 

Film Career:-

Dadasaheb Phalke did many work in his lile. After watching a silent film The Life of Christ, he made up his mind for making a film. At last he made a silent film Raja Harishchandra in 1913 and he had given a start to Indian Cinema. After that he made 95 films and 26 short films. He started also a film company Hindustan Films.
